Clinical Psychologist

Mat has worked as a psychologist in the public mental health system and private practice settings. Mat is currently working towards Advanced Certification in Schema Therapy.  Mat believes therapy should be a collaborative space where the client and psychologist agree on goals to work toward and develop a shared understanding of the client and their experience. Mat aims to develop a strong, honest and compassionate relationship with each of the clients he works with and believes the therapeutic relationship is the best predictor of success in therapy. While therapy can be a confronting space, Mat tries to make his clients feel comfortable every step of the way.  Mat has an interest and experience working with clients with a broad range of concerns. This includes clients with; body image concerns, problematic eating, low self-worth, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, perfectionism, psychosis, and difficulty with long-standing emotional and behavioural difficulties such as Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD).  Mat is inclusive of people from all walks of life. He endeavours to engage in a culturally sensitive practice. He is an LGBTIQ friendly psychologist.  Mat primarily uses Schema Therapy and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) in his work. He has further interests in Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and mindfulness-based approaches.

Mat works 9-6 Monday, Friday and Saturdays, Thursdays from 2-8pm and is located at both Essendon and Drummond Street location.
